The present page compiles Arab country mission reports of thematic mandate holders and annual reports of country mandate holders. The page links directly to information in both English and Arabic that is available at the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. In cases of lack of Arabic resources, this page links to translation of/or fusion of relevant information.

The mandate holder can be an individual expert referred to as "Special Rapporteur", or "Special Representative of the Secretary-General" or "Independent Expert", or member of a working group usually composed of five members (one from each region).

The mission report –thematic and country- either results from human rights violations that occurred and communicated or investigates a situation of human rights at the national level.

The work of the thematic and country mandate holders in the Special procedures of the Human Rights Council are spelled out in the HRC Resolution 5/1: Institution-building of the United Nations Human Rights Council. A Code of Conduct is now in place to define the standards of ethical behavior and professional conduct of the “mandate-holders” while discharging their mandates.

Central to the work of both the thematic and country mandate holders is the Coordination Committee of Special Procedures that acts as a bridge between them and the OHCHR, the broader UN human rights framework, and civil society.

Mandate-holders serve in their personal capacity and do not receive salaries or any other financial compensation for their work. The independent status of the mandate-holders is crucial for fulfilling their functions in all impartiality.

For a comprehensive listing of each mandate, the date it was established and extended, the name and country origin of the mandate-holder, contact information, and a direct link to the related website from the UN-OHCHR, please refer to:
