UN Conferences: International Conference on Human Rights Proclaimed by the International Conference on Human Rights at Teheran, Iran on 13 May 1968. The preparatory committee for the World Conference on Human Rights stresses the importance of non-selective and non-discriminatory international cooperation to promote human rights, based on dialogue, solidarity and joint action to promote the full enjoyment of all human rights. The General Assembly of the United Nations decided to convene at a high level a World Conference on Human Rights in 1993. A few of its objectives are: To examine ways and means to improve the implementation of existing human rights standards and instruments; To evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the methods and mechanisms used by the United Nations in the field of human rights.
